Government Shutdown (except Border Patrol)

Of the many agencies involved in the government shutdown, the border patrol and other immigration services remain exempt.  This shows that the government knows they cannot close their eyes for even a second when it comes to border patrol.  If the US let their guards down, they would be regretting it for quite some time.  The other hand, the agencies that deal with citizenship and green card applications are also exempt.  These processes already take long, and a shutdown could put these agencies even further behind.

  1. So basically in a nutshell: despite the government shutdown, they're still making sure that the appropriate agencies are still active enough to ensure that immigrants stay out but as far as the agencies dealing with citizenship and granting green cards- "nah, they're not important right now..."

Perhaps I'm jumping the gun on this, but I get a clear message from our gov't (or lack thereof) from these actions, and that message says that keeping the immigrants out is more of a priority than anything.

    Personally, I dislike that message.
