Beginning November 1st, the American Indian Film Festival will be taking place in San Francisco. This annual festival has been going on for 37 years already, and is said to be the oldest Native Americans film festival one in the world. The festival will take place at the Palace of Fine Arts. Surprisingly, the people who put the festival together chose the word Indian to describe the collective groups of Native Americans. This festival ends November 10th.
On November 6th, there will be a South Asian Film Festival called Bollywood and Beyond. The festival will take place at the Castro and The New People Cinema in San Francisco. Rajesh Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar) of The Big Bang Theory will be at the screening of the new film he produced, Beyond All Boundaries. This festival ends on November 10th, but continues for one day (November 16th) in Palo Alto.

This seems like a lot of fun and a good way to learn about the growth and expansion of a very old culture. Personally I have never seen any Native American films or seen a film with honestly portrayed Native Americans they have all been old westerns and it would be nice for a change.
